How much should I ask for my Bates saddle?
I bought a 16.5″ havana brown Bates Caprilli A/P saddle w/ easy change gullet system about 2 years ago brand new, with list price of $1800. I’ve ridden in it probably 10 times since then at most. It’s a super comfy saddle with great great leather (I’ve only oiled it once and it hasn’t needed it since), but since buying it I’ve been riding in mostly C/C saddles and focusing on hunters, so keeping my A/P isn’t really justifiable.
Anyway, my question to you is how much do you think I should ask for this saddle? Since it’s hardly been used, it’s in near perfect condition– just a couple of shallow scratches on the seat that could be oiled out, and then faint marks from where the stirrup leathers lay. No, I will not be including leathers, irons, or a girth (because since I hardly used the saddle at all, I ended up taking my darker leathers and girth off of my old saddle). I may throw in my gullet gauge and all of the different size gullets, which I bought for about $100.
I whould Say around 1500 or 1450. It dependds on the buyer. It seems like a great saddle, I hope you sell it quicky and get a good price for it!
