How do I mend a copper kettle?
I have an old copper kettle that leaks a tiny bit at the bottom where the sides & base join. How do I mend it, because I assume that the solder that I have contains lead, and it needs to be able to stand the heat on the top of the stove. Thank you.
The kettle can be mended by brazing the joint shut, this isn’t a home repair job as it requires an oxyacetylene torch. You could solder the seam shut with silver solder but the repair won’t hold up for long.
