Will size 9.5 snowboarding boots work with a large binding?
I already have my boots, size 9.5 burton ruler, and I am looking to buy some cartel bindings. I know the size L is only reccemended for 10+ boot size, but what would the drawbacks be if I used a 9.5? would all the straps still tighten down snug? would it be as responsive? would my foot slip around at all?
Its ur lucky day. I wear 9.5 Rulers and Cartel bindings too. You will need Medium bindings with this size. I have been on this setup for 3 years now. I tried Large Cartels in the beginning and even after I adjusted all the settings to the smallest level it was not the best fit. It works better the other way around. When you get Medium Cartels and max out all the settings on the straps its a much better fit than with the Large. Your leg will not slip around with the Large binding. I got both sizes and set up the M on the left leg and L on the Right. I strapped into the boot and board with the different sizes and you could tell by looking at it that the L was an awkward fit. It felt slighlty off, but looked worse. The M felt great and looked normal as far as centering both the straps.
BTW, as great as Burton gear is, go for a Lib-Tech or Gnu board. BTX rocks.
