Bridle Spurs
Thinking about showing my mare as a show cob… (english riding)?
I usually compete my horse in small hunter classes, but recently a vet commented on her extravagent movement and suggested hogging her and showing her as a cob. Don’t know anyone who does this so not sure on attire and tack. She is VERY strong and forward so is it acceptable to wear a plain double bridle? I have a plain brown saddle from hunter classes which I’m pretty sure is okay.
Does anybody have anymore info on attire/tack/turnout and how classes are judged? I know the main things like hogged manes, pulled tails and trimmed feathers. Do they have to have quarter markers (eg. sharks teeth)? I know I have the right clothing for showing, but do I need dummy spurs and gaiter straps? Belt? Tie pin?
What are the height restrictions and what is the average amount of bone on the leg for a lightweight/medium weight/heavyweight?
Okay you get the jist of what I’m asking now

Hi my good friend has a Cob, she bought him for £250 which is about $170 dollars. He is the perfect example of what a Cob should look like! he clears the cob classes and ALWAYS comes out 1st. Im not sure what they look for but here’s a wee picture of him to give you an idea, you can see what tack she uses, what she wears etc. He has a has hogged mane and tail, she doesnt use quarter marks as this is not the natural hair. Hope this helps.
