Mineral makeup has become the rave in cosmetics for the last 10 years or so. Most women are switching to this type of makeup because it is purportedly made of only natural and pure minerals. Although these types of makeup (originally foundation only) were already in the market sometime in the 70s, it was only given widespread notice toward the late 90s perhaps due to the back-to-basic trends and global environmental and health issues. The best mineral makeup must atleast include these two ingredients. Some schools of thought categorize this type of cosmetic by generations where the first generation has only the basic 4-5 mineral ingredients including zinc oxide and titanium dioxide and the second generation is considered more as mineral added makeup. Not like the “pure” kind of foundations, mineral added makeup has more ingredients that include s thos that can be found in traditional makeup- chemicals, preservatives, fillers, dyes, etc.. Those that sworn loyalty to the old school feel that the new school is infidel to the genuine idea of cosmectic- that of being natural enough to be applicable to very sensitive skin. The best mineral makeup for them is still the first generation mineral cosmetic.
Like common cosmetics, however. the prefernce and utilizatioon is always on a subjective and personal level. In order to determine if this type of makeup agrees with the user, the only way to find out is to try the product. Certain skin types, especially those with highly sensitive skin types, are very choosy on cosmetic products.
