Collegiate Senior
Should I take these Courses Senior Year of HighSchool?
I am currently a Junior in High School. I am thinking of taking these classes below for Senior Year:
Ap Chemistry
Ap Biology
Ap U.S Gov.
Ap English Literature
Collegiate Academy/Dual Enrollment course.
Algebra 2 ( I am behind one year), can I take 2 math classes in 1 year?
Spanish 3.
And an elective.
Am I allowed to take these selected courses? 2 sciences and 2 math course in 1 year? Need Some advice.
I am gonna try to get into all those courses, I need to know if there are any requirements for each course, if so, help me out.
I know that you need to take chemistry to enter A.P chemistry. (taking chemistry my junior year)
A.P Biology (took bio sophomore year)
Do I need anything else for the other classes?
That looks like a pretty tough schedule, but if you have been taking hard courses throughout high school and making A’s and B’s in all of them, I think your schedule is definitely doable.
For AP Chemistry, it would help to have some algebra II background. I have a friend who is in AP Chem this year and does not have algebra II until next semester (we’re on block scheduling), so I think at my school, you just have to be enrolled in (not necessarily completed) algebra II upon signing up for AP Chem. However, like I said, especially when you get into kinetics, equilibrium, and stuff like that, it might help to have taken algebra II.
As for taking two math courses (or science courses) in one year, kids do that all the time at my school. It’s called “doubling up.” We’re on block scheduling, so a kid might, for example, take Algebra II first semester and Pre-calc second semester. However, if your school is not on block scheduling, it might not be possible (i.e. your school might not let you take algebra II and pre-calc at the exact same time, nor would that really be a good idea). However, the AP Chem and Bio combo should not be a problem (other than possible conflicts with algebra II).
