Which Is Better, One Or Two Ear Western Headstall?
Im thinking of buying a bridle but im debating between 1 or 2 ears. I think the one ear headstalls look funny cuz it looks like ones missing. But my friends said thats what everyone has in shows. but i think two ears look better. but someone also said if you 2 ears it will slip off your horses head easier and that you have to have a certain bit in. Can someone clear this up for me please?
Thanks for everyone who has answered so far =) so are you saying as long as the bridle has a throat latch is shouldnt come off? i was planning on using it for normal riding too.
If this is for the show ring only, it would be a personal preference.
If it is for regular riding, trails, or speed events, etc a bridle should have a throat latch. With out that, the bridle can easily slip off. The throat latch is what will helps make sure the bridle stays securely in place on the horse.
Also, some horse get irritated with the bridles that just secure over the ear as they can rub and itch those tender areas. Other horses just don’t seem to care.
Remember, safety should always be your first consideration.
