How do i determine the value of my saddle?
I have a Cambridge all purpose saddle that i got in 2007, it has been used less than 100 times for sure! it has been shown in twice… and really it’s in great condition. it’s a 15” seat. The tree is perfect, there are no problems with the saddle but a very light scratch on one of the knee rolls. i payed $232.00 CAD for it.
i also am selling my saddle with the stirrups and stirrup leathers. I purchased Canadian Made Leathers for $46.95 CAD which have been stretched a bit and broken into. Stirrups haven’t changed one bit, i purchased Deluxe Fillis Stirrup Irons for $39.95 CAD.
Overall the saddle costs $318.90 WITHOUT tax
WITH tax (0.14%) … it would cost :
$318.90 x 0.14% = $44.65
$318.90 + $44.65 =
TOTAL: $363.55
But since this saddle has been used since 2007, i was wondering what the value of it today is, it isnt in terrible condition.. it acctually looks almost brand new! Let my know what you think!
Who knows what the saddle’s worth? But there is an old expression: Things are only worth as much as someone will pay for it. So here’s how you do your research… Ebay.
List your saddle for sale as an auction with the ‘make offer’ option included. Price the saddle’s reserve at what you paid for it when you bought it. This way, folks can make an offer on your saddle and if you like it, agree to sell it to them for that price.
OR you may just get lucky, find someone who collects your type of saddle, and pay what you paid for it new! Some gently used, well-cared-for saddles hold their value so well, that it actually INcreases over time.
