Know How of Natural Hand Made Soaps
Handmade soap is the oldest purifier available. It is formed by a chemical reaction between oils, water and lye. Although lye is used to make handmade natural soap there is no lye left after saponification (the chemical reaction that makes handmade natural soap) is complete.
There is no such object as a bar of handmade natural soap that was made without the use of lye. Different types of handmade natural soap are made using a variety of different oils. Both animal & natural plant oils are used in the handmade natural soap making process, each adding different merits to the handmade natural soap.
Most of the handmade natural soaps available in the market today are not really handmade natural soap at all, but a detergent. Detergents are a petroleum based product, like gasoline and kerosene. Have you ever noticed how usual handmade natural soap leaves your skin feeling dry, itchy and tight? Alkali, the most common annoying product in handmade natural soap is often the culprit. Others ingredients in mass-marketed handmade natural soap have been proven harmful to our health and can cause severe skin reactions in some people.
These include ingredients such as BHT, Isopropyl Alcohol, DEA and Triclosan (commonly found in anti-bacterial handmade natural soap). The most common ingredient in conventional bar handmade natural soaps is sodium tallowate. It is the natural practice to combine tallow, or beef fat, with lye. The beauty for tallow for mass producing handmade natural soap is that it processes rapidly, produces a hard bar of handmade natural soap and is inexpensive and plenteous.

The sales of handmade natural soap continue to grow as part of people’s like toward buying products that are healthy and good for the environment (green products). Because it is a high quality by-product in the handmade natural soap making process, many mass commercial handmade natural soap manufacturers often extract the glycerine and sell it as a by-product to be used in higher priced products like lotions and skin creams.
