Pet Painting Involves Knowing Personality
A graphic artist feels little faces watching her whenever she works at home. As she uses up most of the time at home for various kinds of work, she feels a lack of enthusiasm in what she is doing. She suddenly discovered a new career after seeing those faces. She was headed for Texas when she decided to put the images of her animals on canvas. Using colors that fit the animal’s personality, she creates the animal’s portrait.
When she paints, her purpose is to capture the animals’ essence. Using the different colors and knowing the animal’s personality can help me recreate it in my painting. The first painting was that of a dog of mixed breed that she found with her husband on a camping trip. The dog, which was red, was always by their side.

It’s hard not to not see the blue dog. People may find the blue dog paintings amusing, but there is actually a haunting seriousness in how the artist views his work. Each of the paintings, though quite humorous on the outside, actually have deep spiritual messages embedded in them. She wants to capture the animal’s vitality in her art. Bright colors and odd patterns are what she picks out for her portraits. These animals had no one to take care of them before she adopted them as her own. One of the dogs she adopted kept on going to other people’s houses from a neighbor’s house.
Last summer, she stopped by local veterinarian offices and left colorful fliers to market her pet portraits. Give me a picture of the animal and also her personality description, she tells her clients. When she knows the animal already personally, then she’ll know what colors to use. There is something that the customers find in the portraits, a store owner said.
The painting of her was a bright yellow, revealing her energetic side. A person who owns an art gallery said portraits have more appeal if people know who the subjects are. Looking at a portrait and appreciating it are two different things.
