What’s the best way to clean fecal matter off a long-haired cat’s rear end?
The short-haired cats don’t have this problem, but a couple of the long-haired cats do.
A damp washcloth, or if this disgusts you (to use a cloth you will wash and reuse) then get some baby wipes that are disposable.
Now, the more important question, that you didn’t ask, is WHY does some of my cats get fecal matter on their tails(rear ends).
Good stools, are solid enough to not cling to the cat(s) eliminating them. So, you need to come up with a food regiment that will firm up the stools of all your cats, and also a food that ALL your cats will eat without fuss. I know this is hard with multiple cats. I have four, and even with just four, this at times is hard for me to do.
Once you find a food that works for them all, then you can still switch things up, just remember to do it at a slower pace. Of my four, two have iron stomachs, and two have very sensitive ones. Wet used to be their major source of food, but now, it’s dry and wet in small doses three and four times a day. With more dry, they now have good stools, and a three ounce can of wet split among four cats (three or four times in a day)isn’t enough to upset a stomach and usually doesn’t cause any loose stools in the two with sensitive stomachs. This equates to giving each a can of wet a day, but in small snacks instead of all at one time.
I know this was a bit long, but I hope I gave you something to think about as to why you are having to clean fecal matter from some of your cat’s butts.
