Whats the difference between a regular university and a research university?
I would like to become a doctor(dermatologist) and my dad told me if I wanted to do that I should go to a research university rather than a reg. university.
Would it matter where u went for your pre-med studies?
And is Georgia Southern University a good school for pre-med studies?
(I cant get into the big name schools like emory, or oxford)
Research universities tend to hire professors based more on their research and how much grant money they can bring in rather than their teaching ability. But this is true for almost all colleges and universities, so there’s really no distinction except that the so-called research universities are better at bringing in grant money. Since medical doctors are not researchers, you won’t really be expected to do research, so you can go wherever you want.
