Ariat Monaco vs. Sergio Grasso field boots?
I am looking to invest in new tall boots without going custom. I was set on Monacos (I have the Monaco half chaps that I love) before I did a little online review and some people said the zipper busts. I recently dealt with that (main reason for getting new boots) and when the zipper was replaced it was a shotty job and it fits wrong now.That is too much money to pay for a boot that is unsure quality. People either loved or hated them. My trainer isn’t familiar with Monacos and recommended Sergios. He said if I could I should try on both types. But now that I know about the zipper thing I am apprehensive. I have a wider calf, but everywhere else narrow and tall leg. I would like to know more about both of these boots before I buy – thanks!
I don’t know the name Sergio Grasso. I did buy a pair of Ariat paddock boots, and I was bitterly disappointed in the quality. The soles wore out within a few months, the edge of the sole on one toe broke off outside the stitching line, the leather cracked at the crease, and this was with very careful use and maintenance. I was so proud of my new Ariats, my first Ariats, so I only used them for riding and kept them clean, conditioned, and shined. They repaid my care by practically falling apart.
My suggestion is to check out the Sergio Grassos, or any other brand. Don’t waste your money on Ariats.
