clean that god damn room already poem?
every mess i made is mine
starting with my lies
ending with my going to bed
and waking up five days later
cramped and sore at 17 years old
surrounded by olive nylon bags
filled with clean clothes
claiming my dirty floor
that i refuse to vacuum, not even for myself
so, i’m forced to pick up crumbs
with my bare feet
not by choice of course
my feet just happen to absorb the mess
this was when i got in a bad game and end up a dirty mess at the end of it.
I get what you’re saying, and I like the metaphor – I just think you do the metaphor a little too literally. Like … make it more artistic?
Anyway … Oh – and the first two lines made me think the poem was going to rhyme, may want to fix that line break.
