how close can i place furniture to a radiator?
what distance would still give the radiator optimum performance? the piece of furniture in question is a three seater sofa?
A single panel, wet radiator, that is, one with hot water in it, radiates heat primarily from the front so any obstruction will obviously deflect and absorb the heat intended for the room. A double panel on the other hand, whilst still radiating from the front also uses the convection of air between the two panels to heat the room and is therefore more efficient. I would suggest in both instances that no furniture be placed closer than between six to nine inches of the face of a radiator. There is also the chance the sofa being scorched or burned if it is placed any closer.
