Anyone have some tips on preparing harness ponies for shows?
Thanks guys, but I already know all that. I’ve been showing for 2 years in harness, 16 years with hacks. I should have been more specific with my question, as I meant grooming preparation, not training. I’d like some hints/tips/shortcuts/good ideas. lol
The one thing I’ve seen that has hurt placings more often than anything else is cleanliness. I’ve noticed a number entries that would have done better if they’d paid more attention to cleanliness! You need perfect turnout to place high. Clean your harness after every class. Clean your vehicle after every class.
The other thing I often see is a pony that isn’t happy in the ring. Ponies that enjoy their work place higher than ones that don’t. I find that long drives in the countryside does a great deal towards keeping them happy in their jobs.
Nice to hear from another pony and harness lover. There aren’t enough of us out there!
