Adding a powder feed supplement to my horses feed- its going to the bottom of the bucket and she wont eat it!?
we got a powder feed supplement for my horse that is supposed to help her relax and make her easier to ride, but it doesnt smell very ncie and im assuming it doesnt taste great either, i mix it in with her chaff and coolmix but she somehow picks out the coolmix and leaves some of the chaff and a lot of the powder at the bottom. the big problem is, this stuff costs a lot, and we cant afford to buy it if shes not even eating it.
what can i do to make her eat it?! or is it normal for this to happen with powder food supplements?
ive tried mixing it in, ive tried adding fresh coolmix once its mixed it, ive tried puttting the coolmix on the bottom, powder in the middle, and chaff on top, but she still leaves some at the bottom!
Take several jugs to your local feed store and get some bulk molasses and mix that in your grain so it’s sticky, then add your powder and mix that up with it. Finally add your chaff.
