Is this normal for a mare to do this?
I got a mare and today when i was walking round she just bucked and then someone else got on her and she’s a pro rider and said she was really in a bad mood. And i have a show tomorrow dressage and don’t want her to do this. She was bucking in canter, bunny hops, not troting forward and wasn’t listening to the spurs. Is this normal for mares to do this and I’m really nervous for tomorrow. :’( Has this happened to youu?
If she doesn’t usually buck, and is in season…then she might be having a tough cycle and it hurts (cramps) to be ridden.
Mares can have hard cycles just like women. Which is why…if you have a mare, you’re kind of out of luck if this is the case with yours….
Keep track of her cycle and just don’t expect much out of her when she’s in pain.
Nothing else you can do. Would be wrong to push her through it. If you’re a female, then you know what cramps feel like, right? Not fun.
