Local roper wins team roping championship
A local roper was a big winner during the recent United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC) West Texas Championships held in San Angelo June 9-12.Kory Koontz of Sudan was the winner in the Open division defeating 32 other teams with partner Speed Williams of De Leon.The duo roped five steers in 36.67 seconds to split a $2,946 paycheck from the $6,412 total purse.
