I am not tax savvy and work as a stripper…HELP!?
For over a year I have been working as a stripper in a local club, depositing 80% of my cash earnings in BOA savings account…however I also work as a waitress, dance instructor, and professional dancer (ballet) and have w2s from those gigs as well. I want to pay taxes accurately, and this is my first time to file on my own no longer being a student. Should I file a form SE or something for the stripping seperatly from all other w2s? I’m really really an idiot when it comes to taxes, any help is appreciated….
Any job that sends you a W-2 form before the end of January is all you have to worry about filing.
There will be a part during the filing process that will ask for ‘Wages, Tips, and Other Compensation’. This is the part where you can submit information about your “unclaimed cash”. Meaning, your tips from lap dances and all those $1 bills me and my friends threw up on stage last night.
Seriously though, I wouldn’t worry too much about accurately filing your taxes simply because you’re in the “cash business”. Just make sure you accurately report the numbers clearly supplied to you in the W2 forms.
Trust me, the IRS is not going to audit you because you forgot to report a couple hundred dollars in tips from stripping, dancing, waiting tables, whatever. They’ve got bigger fish to fry than girls who can do cool tricks with a pole or balance trays with 20 beers on their hands while they pull out chairs with another.
File all your W2′s in one filing process, use TurboTax, and if that’s too complicated (which it shouldn’t be), seek a tax professional.
Just know that these days they make it so easy to do yourself, that paying a “tax professional” is only for people who are complete idiots and you certainly don’t want to support any cliche’s or steretypes of strippers being air-heads.
Just add up your average night in tips, report it in your taxes as tips, and make sure you file every job correctly.
