5 Theme Ideas for a Blue Quilt
What do you think of when you think about a blue quilt? Perhaps the very first thing that is evoked is the normal shower gift for a pair about to have a baby boy. Nevertheless today, blue is a colour that can be used for both sexes in babies ‘ patchwork quilts — whether boys or girls — and can be used for lots of other situations, too.
Theme 1: baby
Blue is the perfect color to put in a patchwork duvet for a baby, whether you use it all by itself for different shades and use it in the traditional sense ( blue for a boy, pink for a girl, etc. ), or whether you're creative and pair it with different colors for a rather more varied look. Either way, a blue quilt given as a gift for baby shower — or making one of your own for your own baby to be — is going to be souvenir that can be used to keep a little one warm, then tucked away for memories thereafter.
Theme 2: nature, and spring
What do you think about when you think about the colour “blue” in nature? Blue flowers, dragonflies, and blue sky with fluffy clouds? Spring may are evoked when you think about blue in nature, and if you want, you can put this into a patchwork cover you make specifically for the statement of spring’s arrival. be imaginative, and alternate shades of pale sky blue with pastel pinks, greens, and yellows, or be bolder and pair faded blue with shades of regal purple, bright green, and cheery yellow for a bolder look.
Theme 3: nautical
Blue is also the colour of water, and if you or a person you know loves boats, boating, and the water in general, you can pair different shades of blue with crisp blocks of white, accented with the odd block of bright red, to give the quilt a nautical theme.
Theme 4: patriotic pride
Specific to the United States, you can make a red white and blue quilt that gives a nod to the Old Stars and Stripes. Combine star formed patches of white with irregularly shaped patches of blue and red to give a clearly American feel to your quilt, one that is’s also unique and one-off.
Theme 5: night sky
Ultimately, if nighttime is one of your fave times, and you like nothing more than a night out gazing at the stars, you can construct a patchwork duvet of a dark navy background with white “stars,” to remind you of the night sky. Again, one-off and unique, this quilt will adorn your bed and truly let you sleep “under the stars.”
