Are sport boots for horses necessary?
I bought a pair of Legacy sport boots but my riding instructor said they aren’t necessary and they can actually cause harm. I see a lot of competitors at the shows use them, are the sport boots at all harmful towards the horse? Do you need them for gaming? Are they necessary?
I ALWAYS use boots when im running my barrel horses. As I don’t feel like taking that high of a chance and my horses getting hurt because I chose not to protect my horses legs. Because you just DON’T know what is going to happen when you doing speed events, your horse may really over reach and hit the back of his leg where the huge tendon is and could possibly break the tendon (seen it happen), or create any other injury that is a huge mess to work with. And with boots you have that protection to help prevent that. Ya accidents happen but do you REALLY want to just have the “im gonna take the risk” attitude? Your horse only has 1 set of legs, try to protect them as best as you can because without those you don’t ride.
