The Very Eerie Portrait
Opening recently was a local star billed stage show called the innocents. Once you look at the set, you shall see a picture, the subject of many strange speculations. And the long time owner of this picture is someone who maintains anonymity. The lady cannot recall why she bought the picture all she knew was she was going down the road, parked suddenly and bought it for reasons unknown to her up to now. The picture is in oil of a Borzoi, a Russian wolfhound painted by an artist in the late 1800′s or early 1900′s. While one find it such an alluring picture, to someone trained to be familiar with the Borzoi, he will wonder why the artist painted his subjects in an almost straight on pose, showcasing only the head and shoulders of the dog. One will also find that the shoulders and chest are not proportioned accurately.
It was a strange fact that the woman, whose eyes were expertly trained of how a Borzoi should appear and knew so much about the breed, still went ahead and purchased it. Strangely, when her husband arrived home that night, he did not blow up as she initially expected upon learning that she bought that instead of the things needed by their children for he instead got so drawn to that painting, the exact same way she was upon seeing it. Many experts and amateurs of photography have chosen this as their subject and yet there never was an instance when two photographs came out alike. They cannot understand why there would be times that on the Borzoi painting’s right side, a spectral face would appear while there are moments when the dog in the picture would look flat then suddenly three dimensional at other times and then there would also be bizarre lights lingering around the portrait and making the person see it to be in color and sometimes, in black and white.
There was a time that the portrait owners were debating whether or not an entity came with the picture, the man replied that I think that we are all just being too imaginative and everything is just caused by some sorts of light reflections for there is nothing mysterious or strange about this wolfhound painting. It was creepy how a large ceramic plate which hung on the wall fell to the ground but as they saw it, it was not broken and neither did it have a crack.
The Innocents play producer director approached the couple who were very happy to loan the portrait to him after he explained that this would be great on his set, as the story he was doing is about the supernatural. They insisted that something went with that picture, moving into their home on the day they bought it, and they believe that lending it for his stage play, the Innocents, might be able to shed some light on this mystery. They could only hope this was true.
