Where is the serial # on a Tex Tan Hereford saddle?
I have been looking at a Tex Tan Hereford brand saddle that is for sale online. The seller can’t tell me anything about it (such as gullet size, bars, etc.). I asked for the serial number thinking that there might be a way for me to look up more information about it, but the lady says she can’t see a serial number on it.
I would be surprised if there is no serial number SOMEWHERE on this saddle. Does anybody know where I could tell her to look for a serial number? Is there any other kind of identifying feature on Hereford saddles?

Unless it is a very old saddle there should be a serial number somewhere! Most of the saddles I’ve seen have the serial numbers on the stirrup leathers. Here are some pics of where the serial number can be found on most Tex Tan/Hereford saddles.

If the owner can’t give you serial numbers I would pass on that saddle because either they have no idea about saddles or are giving you the run around!
