Bring Back Those Customers
Alright, so your little shop is not making the sales you were dreaming of. That does not necessarily spell disaster. It is just an opportunity for you to make a few adjustments and maybe a bigger effort on your behalf. Have a sale – not just any sale, have a well thought out and executed sale.
First, with pen and paper, walk around your shop and make lists of items you can put up for sale. Start off with items that are older than the shop itself and work your way up to current dates. You need to drastically reduce the prices of your very old stock and then slowly lifting the prices the newer the item.
Having done that, you can now concentrate on your shop itself. Revamp if necessary like moving shelves around. Dust, wash and scrub until everything looks new and inviting. Display your on sale stock in groups like taking children’s clothing, toys and books and placing them around your britax car seat.
Your shop must be super clean when your shoppers arrive. It must look new and fresh so all your shelves need repacking and dusting. Your items must all be clearly priced as well. Make sure that outside your shop is also acceptable and that your windows are sparkling clean.
Add a few personal touches to your store like a rug here and there or a cow’s bell over the door. This will give them a sense of home and wholesomeness as they hear a bell when they enter. Because the have heard the bell, they are now alert and will immediately see your martin acoustic guitar displayed with other musical instruments. If it is plugged in you will have many people mulling around.
Right, now that your shop is ready, you need to tell people of your bargain sale. Make fliers with the name of your shop, the address and of course the date. Highlight a special item or items you have on sale like for instance ‘costume jewelry free shipping‘, if you have them to sell. Or anything that you think will draw people.
Ask family and friends to distribute your fliers at schools, work places and churches. You can go around to all the shopping malls and small supermarkets to hand out and talk to people about your shop.
No matter what you do, you need to get people back into your shop. If you have a sale, you might just do that. They will definitely buy from you again and you could even start a newsletter informing your clients of new stock and specials that come out. The sky is the limit.
