English Bridle: Available In Variable Patterns For Fitting Into Every Stallion
When it comes to horse riding, the value of an English bridle is obvious. It is available in various pieces such as the cheek pieces, brow brand, nose band, throat lash etc. Before using such kind of accessory, one should consider that every piece is adjusted in such a way that the trammel fits in accurately. If the pieces are not adjusted correctly then it can greatly affect the stallion’s gait and the co-ordination with the riders gets the worst affected. The dressage bridle is usually stiff when bought. Neats foot oil can be used over it in order to make it supple. The leather also gets automatically conditioned, thus rendering durability for longer period of time.
There are various kinds of English bridles available in the market. And each one of them is equipped with distinct functionality and features.
1) Snaffle: Such kind of accessory is associated with adaptability. This particular stuff is used for different purposes such as for general exercising, eventing, dressage riding, playing polo, racing etc. This dressage bridle is comprised of brow band, head piece, nose band, cheek pieces, bit and reins. It is mainly fastened with a flash strip, which is further attached to the nose band and is fastened around the mouth of the stallion. This is done mainly to gain control over the horse.
2) Western Dressage Bridle: It is mainly used for long trail rides and is therefore light in weight. It apts for hot conditions. It is used in barrel racing and in cutting competitions. It comprises of a head piece and a brow band. The brow band can be either full or split eared one or one eared one. This accessory is usually worn without a nose band. It is also comprised of a western curb bit, which has split reins at its end along with a joined buckle.
3) Double Headstall: Such kind of English bridle renders great control over the horse, as in this case, two bits are used in the stallion’s mouth instead of one. This is mainly used in advanced level of dressage riding. It is comprised of a head piece, cheek pieces and a brow band. The nose band is designed in form of a cavesson, which encircles the nose in order to avoid any kind of interference from the bit.
