Sister Wives And Kody Brown Under Investigation For Bigamy
It took 27 simultaneous wives before world-famous Nigerian megastar Fela Kuti realized that he had a baker’s dozen or more too many. The salesman and his four wives – Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn – are currently under police investigation for felony bigamy, reports CBS News Crimewatch.
‘Sister Wives’ are unrepentant bigamists
TLC wanted for making sure the law wouldn’t crack down on their little “Sister Wives” show, so they consulted with the Utah Attorney General’s office. It was a reasonable inquiry. Scott Troxel of the AG’s office told TLC that when bigamy is technically a third-degree felony in Utah, it’s not something that would draw a SWAT team. Typically, polygamists in Utah are only investigated if child abuse or child trafficking is suspected. Radar Online speculates that “Sister Wives” is under investigation because it is a victim of its own fame.
However don’t explain that to the Browns.
Janelle Brown, 40, mother of six of Kody Brown’s 13 children, put it this way: ” If we raise productive, contributing members of society who are moral and ethical, that’s our final goal, whatever their path is”. Three stepchildren also factor to the Brownian equation.
TLC premiered ‘Sister Wives on Sept. 27
Monday, Sept. 27 was the one-hour premiere of “Sister Wives” on TLC. People writes that the first episode involved the welcoming of Robyn, wife number four. Her three kids from a previous marriage are the Brown step kids. Six more bigamy-packed shows are on the TLC docket, but law enforcement might change that to a court docket.
Troxel said in a declaration that “Right now, it is not in our hands, but we’re not closing the door”.
