Important Wedding Advice For Grooms-to-be
When it comes to planning and paying for a wedding, we tend to think that this is the sole responsibility of the bride-to-be and her parents. While this is true to a large extent, the groom-to-be should not be entirely eliminated from the process. This article will identify some gray areas and also give some useful advice for grooms.
In most western cultures, when a couple gets engaged, they will agree when they will be married and where they will be married. This decision is theirs alone. The bride’s parents should respect these choices. The couple will also discuss what type of wedding they desire. They may want a large, lavish affair with lots of guests, or a quiet, intimate occasion with just a few family members and friends.
Traditionally, the parents of the bride will cover costs of the wedding. However, the parents’ financial situation must be considered. If the couple wants a full blown function with all the trimmings, the groom and/or his family must be prepared to contribute. The groom is entitled to have his say about the choice of caterer and the photographer.
Who pays for whose ring? Traditional wedding etiquette says that men should bear the cost for women’s wedding bands, and that women should bear the cost for mens wedding bands. Today this is a rather loose custom and often the couple will share the expense.
Many couples like to have matching rings. In this case, they can consult a jewelry manufacturer who specializes in the design of wedding bands for men and women. This has become a very popular sentimental idea.
When drawing up the guest list, the groom and the bride’s families should be allowed to invite a proportionate number of people. The bride’s parents will be responsible for sending out the invites. They can only do this once the groom’s family has supplied a guest list complete with names and postal details.
If you are the groom-to-be, here’s some very important advice. On the day of the wedding, you should be at the ceremony venue at least half an hour prior to the service. Do not laugh or make idle chatter with anyone. Remain seated and wait quietly and respectfully.
You will want to look your best on this big day. Maybe you are a 21st Century man who likes to take care of his skin, nails and hair. But there are many men who have not yet evolved to this extent. The very last thing you want on your wedding day is an outbreak of acne so facial care is vital.
A few weeks before the big day, ask your pharmacist or a skin-care specialist how to get rid of acne. If you apply treatment during the weeks leading up to your wedding, you should be acne-free. You will be able to pose for your photographs with confidence. Finally, make sure your nails are clean and trimmed, and that you have a neat hair cut.
