What Would I Get From A Yoga Lifestyle
What is all the fuzz about the yoga lifestyle? Why do you think people sacrifice a lot of time attending their yoga sessions every week wearing those tight pants together with those Indian scarf around their necks? What is “Namaste” about and what does “Om Shanti” mean? Diving in the yoga experience would certainly make you change your lifestyle. People who have tried it certainly experience something new, something different and something refreshing. It’s about time to change your old habits to a yogic lifestyle.
So, what is this lifestyle and what would I get from it? A couple of things which people do not know about yoga which I think are the very fundamental reasons why people should try yoga aside from all other benefits you get from it.
First, Yoga is about values. A lifestyle supporting good values will inspire people to do good things. It is not just about the yoga mats and yoga pants. It is first and foremost about values. It is how you value the order of the world. You put priority in certain aspects of your life which you know are essential for a holistic body and spiritual development. Adapting to this kind of lifestyle would certainly give you a new perspective in life which will try to bring out the things you should value like time with family, relationships, physical wellbeing, etc.
Second, Yoga is perfection in action. Yoga masters of ancient times defined yoga as “perfection in action”. This perfection means you benefit from yoga and no one is harmed with yoga. A genuine believer of non violence, this yoga lifestyle’s source of energy is the origin of deep compassion which comes within us. When you live according to this principle, you really know the meaning of yoga. Ahimsa is the Sanskrit word for it. It is the most important yoga principle. This particular principle should be utilize in everything: our actions, our words and even in our thoughts.
These two principles are the very fundamental reasons why yoga has been around for ages. It’s not regarding shirts, mats and other accessories. Mahatma Gandhi lived an ultimate yoga lifestyle and did not have all these accessories but knows these two principles by heart.
